Boat trips and restaurant suggestions

Hello!
We are coming to Scalea in July for 2 nights from Australia and love to go to places that the locals frequent. Any suggestions for restaurants and a day trip on a boat would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Sarah from Sydney

Hi Sarah. We are frequent visitors to Scalea and have tried a number of restaurants at night and Lido’s during the day.
My favourites are La Rondinella, Farmhouse La Rondinella, L’Ancora, Ristro. Just check out tripadviser reviews.

During the day if you visit the beach check out the Lido’s, our favourite is Lido Da Pietro.

Not sure about boat trips from Scalea, an option would be Praia a mare about 10kms away, (easy train trip if not driving) where they have trips around Dino island and up to the Arco Magno Grotto in San nicola arcella.

Hope this is helpful, (we are from Sydney also)

Thanks Kevin — that is great. Will write those tips down. Hard to find much about Scalea but seemed a good spot to stop and explore for a couple of days before heading down to Sicily. We haven’t been back to Italy for about 10 years — kids are now teenagers so all looking forward to it. Thanks again. Sarah

Not a problem, on your way to Sicily try and check out Scilla and Tropea. Enjoy

Hi, you can get boat trip from Scalea from down the Torre Talao (big tower). there is a box where they take you to the top of tower and also they sell tickets to the boat trip along the coast line, cost about 15 eur pp.
