We have received official information that there are no cases of Coronavirus in Scalea. Also, there are no cases of virus in whole Calabria & Basilicata.

Your safest way to travel to Scalea would be thru Lamezia Terme airport (direct flights from UK — London Stansted) or Naples (direct flights from UK, Ireland, USA and many other countries)

Mayor’s office letter confirming there is no coronavirus in Scalea or surrounding cities.

Hi, Trish, I have had my place in Scalea for the past 13 years…

There were ebola, swine flu etc in London, where I  reside (and, in fact I’ve caught swine flu in UK when it was outbreak some years ago). But there never been any viruses outbreaks in Scalea as far as I remember.

So, from my point of view, you are much safer in Calabria, then wherever you are now! wink

Hope it helps!

As per 12.03, there is still no Coronavirus in whole of Riviera dei Cedri, cities as Scalea, S.Maria del Cedro and others. There are small number of cases in South of Italy which are being treated successfully.

Please note, all supermarkets and tobacco shops are open as usual. Lots of toilet paper for our UK & USA customers wink

As preventive measure, 13.03 streets disinfection will take place in number of cities including Scalea. Residents advised to close windows 22:00–24:00 on 13.03.2020

Hi, all, in our area still no viruses, supermarkets are open and full of everything, including of toilet paper, as said admin haha
I was sunbathing with Roman just recently (pic taken on 12/03/2020) before I had to come back to UK on last Ryaniar flight from Lamezia. Had my temperature checked before boarding two times, all clear! Can’t wait to go back when all this madness will come to an end.
