I am so happy to find this forum since I have my heart set on my vacation/retirement home being in this area.

I have been looking at apartments in Scalea that are very low budget, about 15.000 euro with intent to fix up the place and update it as that is what my husband and I did with our house in NJ. I expect that lighting and plumbing would have to be updated and was wondering if anyone here went through a similar experience.

Hello, Tina.
Back in 2017 we’ve bought cheap apartment, that needed renovating. Our apartment been nicely renovated by builders, that guys from this agency recommended.
It looks lovely now.

Not all places in Scalea accept credit cards and there is no currency exchange places in Scalea at all. Therefor bring some Euros with you.
